The key facts about Metra Building Systems are

1.  Foundry

Everything begins here, where pre- and post-consumer aluminium is melted and turned into billets, which are then extruded to generate high-tech profiles in the manufacturing process.

Because of internal recycling, specific alloys, and green alloys, the Metra Industry chain is designed to be environmentally sustainable, resulting in reduced environmental impact and CO2 emissions.

2. Extrusion

Metra’s difficulty is size and complexity: with nine presses, Metra can produce extrusions ranging from 0.5 kg/m to 70 kg/m. Metra works with intricate geometries and the most exacting tolerances.

Metra is an expert in the application of structural alloys. Metra’s cutting-edge systems deliver the highest levels of quality and process efficiency.

3. Machining

Metra ensures that the appropriate component is delivered just-in-time, ready to be assembled on the assembly line.

For the most demanding markets, Metra handles all aspects of machining, kitting, and assembly. Metra’s machine park features 30-meter-long CNC centres and 4×30-meter portals with laser quality control, thermal compensation, and 3D probe.

4. Welding

The entire process takes place on a dedicated 6,500 m2 facility with fully automated portals up to 30 metres long, which are used for welding and later machining.

Metra’s new generation site completes the company’s vertical integration, lowering all costs and waste through integrated logistics directly connected to extrusion presses and internal storage of all materials in various processing stages.

5. Finishes

METRA aluminium is indestructible: Metra’s proven finishes are designed to extend the product’s life cycle. Stainless finishes, anodic oxidation, and piece-by-piece painting Custom colours, corrosion resistance, stain and scratch resistance, and high aesthetic performance are also available.

6 Logistics

Metra’s automated warehouse, which has over 6,000 locations, can respond quickly to just-in-time supply requirements.

Over 35,000 different types of aluminium profiles are extruded by METRA Industry.

Metra starts with the design and shapes the profile from there; the company’s warehouse has 13,000 dies with a maximum size of 850 x 530 mm. Metra moves 160 of them to production every day on average.

Metra’s co-engineering teams are experts in every aspect of production and can assist Metra’s customers in any process, for every market. This has allowed Metra to attain maximum performance and push Metra millimetre by millimetre beyond the limit, completely maximising the potential of the aluminium and the die over the course of its 60-year history.
